Jan 23, 2024
White noise is a popular sound design element that can be used for a variety of purposes, from adding texture and depth to a mix to creating tension and transitions in electronic music. If you're a Logic Pro X user and want to incorporate white noise into your productions, here are the simple steps you need to follow:
- Open your Logic Pro X project and select an empty track.
- Click on the 'Instrument' slot and choose 'EXS24' from the list. This will open the EXS24 sampler.
- In the EXS24 interface, click on 'Edit' to access the instrument editor.
- In the instrument editor, click on 'Zone' followed by 'New Zone.' This creates a new zone where you can import or record a white noise sample.
- To generate your white noise, click on the 'Options' menu and select 'Create New White Noise.'
- Adjust the 'Velocity' and 'Key Range' settings in the white noise sample's properties to control how it responds to MIDI input.
- Close the instrument editor and return to Logic's main window. You now have a white noise instrument that can be played and manipulated like any other instrument in Logic Pro X.
- To add effects and further shape the white noise sound, you can use Logic's built-in plugins such as EQ, filter, and reverb, or any third-party plugins you have installed. Simply click on the 'Insert' slots in the channel strip and choose your desired effects.
By following these steps, you'll be able to add white noise to any Logic Pro X project and use it to enhance your productions in a variety of ways. Experiment with processing and automating the white noise to create interesting and unique sonic textures that will set your music apart.
